Boundaries: Nickel District Apartments is located in the east end of the City of Greater Sudbury. Boundaries can be loosely delineated by Kingsway to the north, Birmingham Drive to the east, Ramsey Lake to the south and Lonsdale Avenue to the west.
Predominant Characteristics: This neighbourhood consists mostly of residential development separated into various smaller neighbourhoods, such as Minnow Lake and Adamsdale. The majority of the residential development is single detached dwellings with some larger apartment buildings scattered throughout. The neighbourhood contains the regional commercial centre, consisting of several box stores including Costco Wholesale, The Home Depot, Winner, Best Buy, Lowe’s. Minnow Lake is located in the subject neighbourhood. Some conservation areas around the lake provide residents with natural space for recreational activities like hiking. There are several schools in the neighbourhood including Adamsdale Public, Pius XII Catholic, and Ecole Separee Saint-Pierre.
Nickel District Apartments is a converted high school and it has a large sport field directly behind it. There is also a large cemetery to the west. The Morel Family Foundation Park is located across the street, east from the property.
